PECRKO is a Professional Clinical Research Knowledge Organization. PECRKO offers Clinical Research Education, a Vetted Minority/Underserving Community Participant Database and Entry-level Medical Vocational Training. Underserving community populations can be more at risk for certain diseases—such as Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, HIV/AIDS, Lupus, and Osteoporosis —which is why it is important for minorities to participate in clinical research. The lack of participation in clinical research has forced innovations to be based on the demographic that does participate, therefore, medical equipment and medications in some cases must be altered for consumption. The alternations of medication and medical equipment can cause unnecessary side effects, numerous provider visits and essentially an overall increase in medical care cost, which is why diversity in clinical trials is essential. Our Vetted Minority/Underserving Community Participant Database serves as a pool of research compliant participants, which supports advancements in clinical research. When the medication and medical equipment’s are designed for all citizens health care costs can be decreased, as less individuals are seeking unnecessary care.
PECRKO Research also supports minority communities with training in entry level medical vocational skills, such as phlebotomy. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, phlebotomists are among the largest group of health care workers and the job market is expected to grow up to 25% in 2026. Not only can learning phlebotomy support initial medical careers, but this skill can be utilized as a steppingstone for those that want to continue in the medical field
.
The FDA affirms that clinical trials, and the people who volunteer to participate in them, are essential to help the development of ways to fight illnesses, yet minorities and underserving communities are not participating in research. Therefore, when these individuals do not participate in research it forces medical innovations to be misaligned and weighted. The FDA indicated various reasons why these individuals don’t participate in research, with lack of education as a main barrier. When educated, minorities and underserving community members are more likely to participate in research which supports medical advancements.
To solve the low minority research participation rate, PECRKO offers free education on clinical research and the benefits of research. The goal of this education is to provide information on the advancements that minority citizens can provide to pharmaceutical and medical equipment innovations and how PECRKO works to support this advancement. After citizens are informed on clinical research, they are offered an opportunity to participate in various clinical research projects via our online database. Upon collection and categorizing the participants data, utilization of the database is offered to educators, physician offices, research firms, clinical research organization (CRO), and pharmaceutical companies to support medical innovations
Phlebotomy is among the largest group of health care workers and the job market is expected to grow up 25 % in 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This skill is important because it is an entry level medical career skill for those that want to cultivate their medical career. Phlebotomists also provide medical providers with Accurate Diagnosis and Monitoring of Patients Health. Many diseases and conditions can only be accurately diagnosed through blood tests. Phlebotomy ensures that the necessary blood samples are obtained in a sterile and professional manner. In addition, regular blood tests are crucial for monitoring chronic conditions, the effectiveness of treatments, and overall health status. Phlebotomists also provide support in Safe Blood Transfusions and Patient Management, by collecting blood donations safely which ensures a stable blood supply for those in need of transfusions, and this can be lifesaving. With patient management, therapeutic phlebotomy helps in managing certain medical conditions, improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
